We hope that these tips and tricks help you at your next stop on the convention circuit, and as we mentioned above, be sure to throw some MD Wipeoutz tattoo towels into your suitcase or tattoo travel case. Our wipes make the tattoo experience enjoyable for both artist and client, and are great for keeping aftercare stressors to a minimum, because our ingredients work to soothe, cleanse, and sanitize skin; while helping to relieve itching and minimize discomfort.
]]>Of course, the severity of the acne is important in deciding whether this is a tattoo deal breaker or not. If you only have small outbreaks and it’s an occasional problem, you will want to simply wait until your skin is clear before you begin a project. However, if you suffer from more aggressive acne, it’s important to take precautions and talk to your artist before the planning stages ever begin.
Some things to consider:
Since a tattoo basically leaves an open wound upon the epidermis, it of course needs to heal; and it needs every chance possible to heal well. If your skin is already irritated, sore, and red from acne, it will make it that much harder to attend to the aftercare steps that are essential to the tattoo healing process.
Talk to your tattoo artist and be honest with them about your history with acne. If the breakouts are an irregular occurrence, the artist might be fine with planning to tattoo in that area; but if it’s a high-risk spot, it might be well-advised to avoid the region altogether.
Getting pimples after your tattoo has healed is a different story though. Generally, once the tattoo has gone through the healing stages, a new pimple that breaks out in the area is not going to alter the tattoo. It might cause the piece to look a little abnormal for a few days, but the ink is already healed into the epidermis. Of course, it’s wise not to pick at the pimple or irritate it further, but an outbreak that occurs after the fact should not be a problem.
If you suffer from scarring due to previous bouts with acne, this can be a bit more complex. Acne scars can be covered, but artists have differing criterion as to which projects they will begin. Covering these scars can be very time consuming and challenging. Depending on where the scar is, the tattoo might require more than one pass to get the ink to adhere. Scar tissue is very sensitive, and it can be more painful for the collector to withstand because of the sensitive nerve endings. Again, these are issues you need to discuss with your artist before starting on a new piece.
One other issue that is important to consider is acne-related prescriptions, because acne meds are sometimes very specific. Oral retinoids (like Accutane) and benzoyl peroxide can be damaging to tattoo ink, so be cautious before getting tattooed if you use either of these. Benzoyl peroxide is basically a bleaching agent and has been known to cause fading to ink. This is especially dangerous if the tattoo is new and still healing. Accutane can be even more problematic. In an article published by the APT (Alliance of Professional Tattooists), this finding was reported:
"Clients using this medication will present skin that is very different from what we would hope for and expect in young skin. In addition to making the tattoo application difficult, it seems to interfere with the healing process."
Accutane can also cause extra skin sensitivity, which would of course result in a much more painful experience for a collector being tattooed. If you use either of these medications, it’s best to finish out the prescription and allow an ample amount of time for the drugs to withdraw from your system before planning a new tattoo.
As with all subjects that raise concern, the BEST advice is to always be open and honest with your tattooist. Nobody wants your experience to be positive and safe more than the artist and if you come to the shop with worries, please be up front and specific before you sit down in their chair. It will benefit not only the outcome of the ink that you wear, but more importantly, your health. By adding MD Wipeoutz to your tattooing experience, as well as your aftercare routine, you can rest assured knowing that our ingredients work to soothe, cleanse, and sanitize skin; while helping to relieve itching and minimize discomfort. By keeping a pack of cleansing tattoo wipes with you wherever you go, you not only eliminate the need for finding soap, towels, and sinks, but you are also proactively keeping your new tattoo nice and healthy
If there is ever a question, it’s best to put tattoo plans on hold and consult your doctor. Tattoos should be memorable and positive additions to your skin and to your life, so do all that you can to prepare for an optimum experience every time you add a new inked treasure to your body. Be safe and happy inkin’.
]]>There are many different styles and themes that can be incorporated into a tattoo sleeve. Some popular choices include
Deciding which style fits you best can be an important aspect to consider, so take your time looking at tattoos online and on social media sites. Also be sure to allow ample time to brainstorm with your friends, partner, family, and of course your tattoo artist (for more on that, keep reading below). Throw around ideas as to what is striking your fancy and dig into books, online platforms, and even the world around you to find inspiration. Start making lists and narrow them down as you go. You can even offer up multiple ideas and see what your tattoo artist feels comfortable designing and planning for.
Once you decide what type of tattoo style you want your sleeve to be, it’s important to be mindful of who you choose to create this project for you. Narrowing down which artist is right for the job can be challenging, because each tattooist brings their own unique style, flair, and vibe to the game. Utilize the wide world of social media and take time to explore your options. Be sure that you dedicate time to checking out a variety of portfolios.
Once you decide on the tattoo artist for the job, be sure to keep these tips in mind as you work with them to plan the project:
Good luck with your tattoo sleeve process and enjoy watching these significant areas of your body morph and transform as the project slowly comes to life!
]]>The dry air of winter can strip our skin of its natural oils, which can make it more susceptible to cracking. In addition, the cold weather can cause our skin to lose moisture more quickly, which can lead to dryness and cracking. Finally, the cold can cause our skin to contract, which can cause fine lines and cracks to become more pronounced.

]]>It's important to remember that our skin’s main function is to protect our body when it’s injured, and when we get tattooed our cells quickly and furiously go to work to repair any trauma that is inflicted on the skin. Even while you are still in the tattoo chair, your body is already working on its healing process. There are four main stages of skin healing and regeneration, including:
So now that you know how our skin heals and regenerates, what signs should you look out for when it comes to irritation versus infection? Be mindful of these signs in order to tell the difference:
To avoid infection at all costs, it’s important to stay vigilant with your aftercare routine and the best way to do that is to keep your new tattoo clean by using Wipe Outz™ products and listening carefully to your tattoo artist’s instructions. Say goodbye to the old-fashioned way of cleaning your tattoos. It’s time to join the revolution and put sterilization, safety, and convenience at the top of your list when caring for your new ink!
]]>The process of getting tattooed is an elaborate and complex procedure. It entails an artist using a needle that penetrates through the outer layer of your skin to draw in ink. Each time your skin is pierced it leaves the inner layers of skin exposed to possible bacterial infections making their way into the situation.
Because tattoos are essentially open wounds and involves trauma to skin, a person’s body will respond to this trauma by activating white blood cells, platelets, and lymphatic fluid. This occurs to help the body to battle impending infection and is the first step in healing, which eventually concludes in the skin developing a scab that helps to prevent bacteria from forming and entering the bloodstream.
In order to prevent additional symptoms like rashes, soreness or infection from occurring due to the risk of bacteria, your best bet to nipping this in the bud is to keep your tattoo as clean as possible. We recommend following these steps as you begin the aftercare process:
If you’re dealing with the cleansing process while you are out and about,
When you treat your new permanent work of art in a way that ensures proper healing, you are bound to have a more positive tattoo experience. We hope these steps will help you to avoid infection and other complications as you embark on the tattoo aftercare process. Be sure to grab some WIPE OUTZ cleansing tattoo wipes to make this undertaking easier and more convenient while you heal your new tattooed treasure.
]]>Once you get home and settled in, it’s recommended that the tattooed area be iced for approximately 20 minutes. As you start this soothing process, you will notice:
Icing can be done in several ways. Of course, you can use the old bag of ice method, however, we recommend using our new MD Wipeoutz Cleansing Wipes as a new revolutionary practice in the icing game. This is suggested because you can freeze these wipes and they instantly double as ice packs. By using MD Wipeoutz Cleansing Wipes:
While each person reacts differently to new tattoos and the healing process will vary from client to client, one thing is for certain: that icing injured areas has been medically shown to help the healing and recovery process with all types of bruises, lesions, and wounds. Since a new tattoo can be traumatic to the skin and is in essence an open wound itself, this method of cooling and soothing can help you to feel as though the healing process is off to a swift start.
After icing the tattoo, follow our week-by-week guide to tattoo healing and aftercare. And remember that your diligence, care, and attention to the new tattoo is essential. You will go through several stages in the healing process, but patience and care are vital. Stock up on MD WipeOutz tattoo towels to help with having a smooth, convenient, and sterile aftercare setup. The more knowledgeable and prepared you are, the more likely your healing experience will be.
]]>Throughout history, people have used all sorts of ingredients as tattoo ink, including crushed up berries, plants, soot, charcoal, ash, and pine bark. Today, the recipe for ink has changed drastically and ink regulations are becoming stricter. This was most recently seen with the EU banning 4,000 chemicals that are common ingredients in tattoo inks.
Tattoo pigments are basically vivid compounds of color that help a tattoo stay distinguishable in the skin. The main ingredient in most tattoo inks is carbon, with about 80% of inks utilizing this chemical element as the base.
In addition, tattoo ink needs a carrier, which includes fluid ink elements that are normally glycerin, distilled water, isopropyl alcohol, or witch hazel. The carrier is important because it helps to transfer the pigment to the dermis of the skin.
When the carriers are alcohol-based, they help carry more pigment into the skin, due to increased skin porousness, and they also help the pigments to stay pathogen-free and allow the colors to mix more smoothly.
Different colored inks have different ingredients, and these commonly include:
While there is currently no regulation on tattoo inks in the United States, reputable ink companies go to great lengths to manufacture safe and long-lasting products. When these are used by outstanding tattoo artists, in conjunction with superior aftercare products such as WipeOutz tattoo towels, your new tattoo is bound to be a positive new addition to your tattoo collection.
While the healing process is different for everyone, using diligence, care, and attention is vital. Stock up on MD WipeOutz tattoo towels to help you to have a smooth, convenient, and sterile aftercare setup. The more knowledgeable and prepared you are in all aspects of tattoo education, the more likely your experience will be a great one.
]]>Artists who offer microblading use a tattooing technique that creates a full-brow appearance by pulling fine-line strokes that deposit pigment in a smooth process. Since the lines aren’t embedded as deeply as a regular tattoo, it will fade and require touch-ups, but most microblading procedures last between one to two years. Cosmetic tattoo artists love using MD Wipe Outz cleansing tattoo wipes because of their design and formula, which is not too wet and not too dry – it’s just right for helping during the microblading procedure and perfect to offer to clients afterwards as they head home and embark on the aftercare process.
When clients opt for the lip blushing cosmetic tattoo, they can choose the shade of pigment that they want to define and fill their lips with. Cosmetic tattooers have demonstrated that lip blushing not only leaves clients with full lips, but also offers an instant tint that can help in the mornings when you are pressed for time and need to rush out the door. Many tattoo artists apply numbing cream before the procedure, so the client only feels some nips and pinches. By using MD Wipe Outz cleansing towels, the client can have a smooth and comfortable experience because each time the artist wipes ink away, it provides a gentle swab that doesn’t aggravate the area or cause unnecessary affliction. After having lip blushing done, clients can expect for their lips to feel a bit tender, dry, and flaky, but by using MD Wipe Outz during the healing process, the soft and lint-free wipes provide relief.
Another popular cosmetic tattoo procedure if permanent eyeliner, which provides clients with pigment applied on the lash line that mimics the look of makeup eyeliner. The beauty of this process is that permanent eyeliner doesn’t run or smudge, and clients don’t have to spend time each morning trying to recreate perfect lines that can oftentimes be tedious. Another benefit is that many people have sensitivities to eye makeup, and this can alleviate this concern, as well as the cost of trying out a multitude of products. This cosmetic tattoo can stay in place between one and three years and offers clients definition and distinction without having to reach for the eyeliner tube. Because the healing process for permanent eyeliner can be a sensitive one for some people, MD Wipe Outz can offer a gentle, bacteria-free, non-abrasive experience by having our tattoo towels at your side.
Scalp micropigmentation also known as a “hair tattoo” is a procedure that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp to give the illusion of a close-buzz hairstyle. Scalp micropigmentation can restore receded hairlines, thicken remaining hair, camouflage transplant scarring, and create the look of close-cropped hair. Using MD Wipe Outz tattoo towels during the aftercare process can be an easy way to keep things clean and sanitary. In addition, these tips can give clients a long-lasting result.
Whether you are a cosmetic tattoo artist looking for a non-abrasive tattoo towel that deliver less-irritated skin, better healed tattoos, and provides an overall better tattoo experience for both yourself and your client, or you are a client getting ready to undergo one of these procedures, MD Wipe Outz tattoo wipes are the key to making this a smooth and effective process.
]]>Anytime our skin has an open wound, it must heal, and this is where scabbing comes in. It’s merely trying to reestablish and regenerate, and this is because when the plasma in your blood oozes from the new wound it then clots and solidifies around the area where you were tattooed. From there it begins to envelop around region in order to protect it from getting infected.
When your tattoo is in this stage of healing it is very important that you keep the tattoo clean and this is a great time to incorporate WipeOutz tattoo towels into your aftercare routine. WipeOutz are sterilized and bacteria-free. They cause less irritation and redness, and this helps the entire healing experience to be optimized.
Occasionally, you may notice that your tattoo has some issues while it’s going through this stage. Be sure to be on the lookout for:
While these types of symptoms are abnormal, if you do notice them occurring, be sure to communicate with your tattoo artist and if needs be, seek treatment by a doctor.
The best way to avoid these problems is to follow the instructions that your tattoo artist gives you, remain vigilant with your aftercare, and include WipeOutz in your tattoo aftercare routine. Patience, care, and diligence is key. The more knowledgeable and prepared you are, the more likely your healing experience will be a positive one.
]]>Well, it’s first important to understand our skin and that we have three layers that come into play:
So now that you know what the three layers are, imagine what it’s like when you get tattooed. When a tattoo needle punctures the skin, it starts by penetrating the epidermis and makes its way through to the dermis.
From there, the white blood cells move in and start playing their role. They come into play because when each new penetration happens and our body encounters the ink, the immune system thinks there’s a new intruder involved and something that shouldn’t be invading our body, so it sends out a group of white blood cells to counterattack and remove them.
However, because the particles of ink are more substantial in size than the white blood cells, most of the ink ends up unaffected by the white blood cells’ attempt to counterattack and it causes the ink to just sit there untouched, remaining in our skin, instead of being removed.
The ink that isn’t taken away by the white blood cells (macrophages), then remains in the dermis within trapped white blood cells and becomes absorbed by skin cells known as fibroblasts. The dye in the ink of the cells is what shows through and what keeps it settled in and permanent.
When the white blood cells play their part, the area that we were tattooed on will then in turn begin to swell and oftentimes turns red. This is also why tattoos eventually scab and need to flake off as they heal.
The healing process is different for everyone, and each person will react differently. What’s important is your diligence, care, and attention to the new tattoo and in remaining mindful that this is a wound that your body is trying to help heal. It will go through several stages, but patience and care are vital.
Stock up on MD WipeOutz tattoo towels to help you to have a smooth, convenient, and sterile aftercare setup. The more knowledgeable and prepared you are, the more likely your healing experience will be a positive one.

The tattoo machine has seen many changes in the hundred years since the early days when Edison’s electric pen grabbed the attention of Samuel O’Reilly. This evolution continues through the present day, where innovations are revolutionizing the tattooing industry and enabling modern day tattooists with essential tools of the trade.
Different styles, shapes and types of machines work for different artists. Each has their own preference and requirements for which machine is ideal for their type of work and style. As we watch the rapid progression of body art, it’s exciting to watch the changes in machines and their capabilities as well. If he could see the advancements in today’s tattooing tools, Samuel O’Reilly would most certainly be proud.

When it comes to pain tolerance, this varies from person to person and is probably something that you already have a good idea of when it comes to your threshold. Some tattoo collectors describe getting a tattoo as somewhat of a sting, burn, or scratch, while others experience it in a much more drastic way. Regardless of where you fall on the pain tolerance continuum, there are many things that you can do to help the experience to be as positive as possible.
Alcohol is a Blood Thinner: That’s right, alcohol reduces your platelet count by inhibiting the ability of your body to absorb vitamin B12, which is essential for normal platelet production. Platelets are small, colorless cells that allow your blood to clot following injury…and when you are getting tattooed, your skin is constantly receiving small new “injuries” along the way. Since we need platelets to help in clot formation and alcohol reduces this ability, it’s advisable not to drink alcohol for at least 24 hours leading up to your tattoo appointment.
Since you are investing your time, money, and skin into the decision to get tattooed, view the process from a responsible and proactive mindset. Give your body and your mind the optimal chance at a positive tattoo experience, as well as smooth healing process. Once that tattoo is finished and you are on the road to recovery, celebrate your new ink with a rousing toast and enjoy your favorite drink, whatever that beverage may be.

1) Tattoo Design: Take the time to carefully ponder the idea and concept of the tattoo that you hope to acquire. While your tattoo artist will be the one to bring your idea to life, having a rough idea about the design that you hope to capture can be extremely helpful when communicating with your tattooist.
2) Size and Location: Consider the size of the tattoo and also the area of the body that you hope to have the piece reside. If you are new to getting tattooed (or even if you are a seasoned pro), trust in the artist you have chosen and listen to his or her recommendations. If they believe an alternative location for the tattoo placement might work best, be open to their suggestions.
3) Find the right artist: With all of the amazing artists out there nowadays, this may seem like an easy task, but researching artists' work and finding a fit that not only meshes well with your aesthetic goals, but also with your personality and vibe, is imperative. This will allow you to have a pleasurable and memorable experience and will also help you to surrender trust in their abilities, so that they can make the magic happen.
4) Avoid the sun: Once you have your tattoo appointment booked, be mindful of the date and plan your outside events accordingly. If you need to be in the sun, be sure to invest in some quality tattoo-specific sunblock so that the area of skin that the tattoo will be inked on will be free from irritation. Once you are healing your tattoo be sure to stock up on Wipe Outz™ Cleansing Tattoo Wipes to keep your tattoo clean while you are out and about.
5) Discuss shaving: If you are a walk-in client, it might not be possible to shave beforehand, but if you have your appointment scheduled, be sure to ask your tattoo artist if they prefer that you shave the area in preparation for the tattoo. Some artists, like Mike DeVries, prefer to shave the spot themselves on the day of the tattoo, as he has found that a minor nick or cut can be a recipe for disaster. Discussing what's best ahead of time can save you both from a headache (and unwanted pain). As a side note, letting the artist see the "hair situation" beforehand may cause them to elect for locating a different spot to plan the piece. This may be necessary to avoid unwanted irritation and may also make the piece more visibly appealing once it's inked. You can use Wipe Outz™ Cleansing Tattoo Wipes to keep areas clean both before and after shaving, for an irritation-free experience!
6) Prepare for the pain: Bringing along Bactine or tattoo numbing products is also advisable. We are very excited to announce that Wipe Outz™ Numbing Relief Wipes will soon be available and will be an excellent way to cut the level of tattoo pain in half (when used correctly)! With the Wipe Outz™ Numbing Relief Wipes, the numbing process will be able to start being applied immediately, once the tattoo is underway. Most artists are happy to incorporate numbing products into the procedure and will appreciate that you brought your own to the appointment. In addition to numbing products, it is helpful to bring along a couple of packs of
Wipe Outz™ Cleansing Tattoo Wipes to ensure a session that is safe, clean, less abrasive, less painful, and sets you up for a smooth heal!
7) Stay hydrated: Not only is it important to stay hydrated during your tattoo session, it is also essential that you drink plenty of water during the day leading up to your appointment. Hydration helps the skin to take in ink more easily, which will in turn help the process to be smoother and less painful. Avoiding dehydration will also help you to keep your composure and prolong your physical strength throughout the time that you are getting tattooed.
8) Don’t arrive on an empty stomach: Tattooing can take a lot out of you, so be sure that you are nutritionally prepared and are giving your body the amount of energy that it needs to sit well for the tattoo and stay focused and attentive. You also want to keep your blood sugar levels up to avoid lightheadedness or the risk of fainting. Eat small snacks when you stop for short breaks. Anything that will give you a little zip and a resurgence of energy: fruit, nuts, dry cereal, crackers, juice, etc. Just as staying hydrated is essential, so is maintaining your stamina with little punches of nutrition.
9) Avoid alcohol: One of the most difficult elements for tattoo artists to work around is excessive bleeding. Alcohol can thin your blood, because it prevents blood cells from sticking together and forming clots, which is essential when working on skin canvases. Not only should you avoid drinking during your tattoo, but ideally, it is best to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
10) Dress comfortably: Depending on the size of your tattoo, you may be sitting for a long period of time and one thing is for sure, you want to be comfortable while you are working through the pain and staying in the zone for a successful session. Your artist may need for you to change positions frequently too, so the type of clothing that you choose to wear can make or break this necessity. If you are getting tattooed on your legs, wear shorts or pants that can be easily rolled up; or if your planned piece is on your arm, you may want to wear a tank top or shirt that you can maneuver easily. If you tend to sweat under pressure (or pain), wear something breathable; and if it’s usually cool in the shop where you are getting tattooed, it might be a good idea to have a jacket or blanket handy if you need to thermoregulate.
11) Think positively and remember to breathe! Having a positive mindset and reminding yourself of the great power that your mind has over handling tough situations is essential! If you think it will help, mentally prepare days before your tattoo. Think about where it's going, visualize the sitting, and try to positively plan for it to be a great experience. Yes, it will hurt, but going through it in your mind can help you tremendously once the tattooing process begins. Also remember to focus on your breathing and don't let yourself hyperventilate, over breathe, or panic-breathe. Just stay calm and relaxed, breathing normally and taking nice, even inhales/exhales. Remember what a great reward (your awesome new tattoo) is waiting for you at the end.
12) Plan your aftercare routine before your tattoo: It’s never too early to plan your aftercare routine and it’s a good idea to have the products that you will use in your aftercare toolkit ready to go. One essential in your aftercare arsenal should be Wipe Outz™ Cleansing Tattoo Wipes which offer less mess and no sting. In addition, Wipe Outz™ are non-toxic, biodegradable, and vegan. They make cleaning at home and on-the-go easy and convenient, so be sure to stock up today and be ultra-prepared for your tattoo appointment.
]]>When you get a new tattoo, your body goes through many different steps as it heals along the way. One of those includes the scabbing process, which to some effect will always happen (whether it’s noticeable or not), as your tattoo moves from being an open wound to settling into your skin. Since so much time, energy, money, and pain is associated with acquiring your new ink, it’s important to understand the elements of scabbing and what you can do make sure it heals optimally.
ARE SCABS NORMAL?
Many people worry that scabbing means that something is wrong or should be a cause for concern, but have no fear…it is a normal process in the tattoo healing game and means that your body is responding to the open wound and the trauma that the tattooed skin area has just endured.
The skin must regenerate itself in order to prevent infection, and does so when:
• plasma in your blood oozes from the wound
• hardens around the area
• and begins to cover the opening in order to protect it from infection
While the tattoo is going through this process, it is essential to keep your tattoo clean, so that it can begin to heal. This is when using WIPE OUTZ™ can be a game changer! Knowing that you have a sterilized product that will help you during this stage will set your mind at ease and keep any scabbing from becoming larger than necessary, so as to avoid infection.
While the scabbing process is normal, there are instances that are out of the ordinary and which you should keep an eye out for. These include:
• Extremely thick scabs that are dense in nature
• Red areas that develop around the scab (which may be a sign of infection)
• Excessive oozing
• Excessive swelling
• Bleeding
• Pain that is out of the ordinary
If you notice these signs occurring, it is best to first visit your tattoo artist and get their advice as to what you are experiencing and how to proceed. In extreme cases, tattoo collectors may need to seek medical help. These instances are uncommon and can oftentimes be avoided by taking proper precautions beforehand and by being vigilant about keeping the healing area clean with WIPE OUTZ™, light layers of lotion or tattoo lubricant, and a thoughtful tattoo aftercare routine.
There are “DO-NOTS” to be mindful of when it comes to scabbing, so heed the following tips, in order to ensure as smooth of a healing process as possible.
• NEVER pick at your scabs! No matter how tempting it is, allow the scabs to heal and fall off on their own. If you prematurely pick off a scab, it may also pull out ink that is settled into that area of the tattoo and may result in patches of ink looking blotchy or pitted areas developing.
• Don’t allow your tattoo to soak up too much water when it is scabbing. Not only can this breed bacteria and potentially lead to infection, but it may cause the scab to fall off prematurely. The best way to avoid this no-no is to keep WIPE OUTZ™ in your aftercare arsenal, so that you can keep the area clean and free from bacteria.
• Try not to SCRATCH around the scab. While the area is undoubtedly itchy and may be uncomfortable, scratching can lead to the same problems that picking can. In addition, fingers and fingernails are full of germs that you don’t want around your tattoo when you are trying to maintain its cleanliness.
Your new tattoo is not only a permanent work of art, it is also an open wound that will most likely scab as it is healing. The best way to deal with scabbing is to follow proper tattoo aftercare steps and keep your new ink clean by using Wipe Outz™ products and listening carefully to your tattoo artist’s instructions. You can always reach out to us here at Wipe Outz™ if you have questions or need advice. We love our customers and want you to have a positive healing process that protects your new work of art for years to come.

With all that you have done to plan for and earn that new piece of ink, it is essential for you to understand how to clean a tattoo during the healing process. Taking the time to exercise proper tattoo aftercare will ensure your new tattoo heals properly and looks beautiful for years to come.
Since a tattoo is essentially an open wound, it only makes sense that a diligent and thoughtful aftercare plan is key. Not only does proper aftercare reduce the chance of infections, scarring, and fading, it also helps to maintain the look of the new tattoo. The goal is not only to get through the healing process but to maintain that masterpiece and keep it looking vibrant in the future. To help get you started, we have included a few steps that may be helpful to follow.
While there are several stages of tattoo healing that are important to be mindful of, remember that there are differences between artists and application styles that may alter the way that each tattoo heals. Before we take a look at how to clean a tattoo properly, we need to discuss the healing process.
Here’s a recap that approaches the process in general terms:
The healing process is contingent on keeping your new tattoo clean so we thought it would be helpful to provide step-by-step instructions on how to clean a tattoo.
Washing your hands before cleaning a new tattoo is perhaps one of the most important steps since hands can be filthy and carry a ton of germs. Don’t put your new tattoo at risk by skipping this step.
The soap that is chosen to wash your hands shouldn’t be just any ordinary soap. You are trying to kill the bacteria and therefore should only choose to use an antibacterial soap. It may sound like a basic step, but you’d be surprised at how many people don’t effectively clean their hands. To ensure that you are properly washing them, you should follow these steps and remember that Wipe Outz™ 1-count single tattoo wipes have a custom-formulated antibacterial wash that smells amazing!
A new tattoo needs to be cleaned throughout the day to ensure its healthy and free of infection. This can be a challenge if you’re at work, school, or otherwise away from home.
Here’s how to clean a tattoo on the go:
In addition to being a permanent work of art, a tattoo is also an open wound that requires your attention to ensure it heals properly. These steps are crucial to avoiding infection and other complications that occur as a result of incorrect tattoo aftercare.
Now that you know how to clean a tattoo, it’s time to get started!
Grab a pack of WIPE OUTZ™ Single Tattoo Wipes and let us know if you have any questions. We’re passionate about tattoo aftercare and we look forward to helping you through the healing process.
]]>After putting in the time, effort, and money to acquire your new tattoo, it’s essential to take the healing process seriously, and we’ve previously provided some helpful tips to make sure that your aftercare procedure is a breeze. But how long does a tattoo take to heal exactly?
Today, we’re taking a closer look at some of the signs and milestones to watch for during the healing process so you know what to expect.
To begin with, the healing process is different for each person. Just as your new tattoo is unique and your experience in acquiring it is too, so is the length of time it will take to heal. Each tattoo collector has several variables that should be taken into consideration, such as their type of skin, their immune system, and personal environmental factors that come into play. As we have noted in our previous posts, keeping your new tattoo clean and lubricated is essential, so make sure that you have plenty of WIPE OUTZ™ Cleansing Tattoo Towels on hand while you are nursing your tattoo through the healing stages. Choosing sterilized products that were made with tattoo collectors and artists in mind is key.
That first week of healing is crucial, so be sure to follow our cleaning and aftercare tips in our previous post (How to Clean A Tattoo), while keeping an eye out for these normal stages of progress, which may include:
Once you move into the second week of healing, you may notice some changes in the appearance of the tattoo, including:
Your scabs should fall off during this time and the itching and pain will have subsided as well. The final layer of dead skin is working its way through the process and you should be feeling back to normal by this point. This is also the time to celebrate your new work and enjoy its newfound place on your skin.
We appreciate you using WIPE OUTZ™ during the healing process and hope that you are stocked up with our easy-to-use packets as you plan your next tattoo and get ready to make your next tattoo appointment.
]]>You’ve just finished your tattoo session and now have an awesome new piece of art adorning your skin, but can you shower after getting a tattoo? We know this is a common concern for tattoo collectors so we gathered eight tips to help you shower safely during those first few days of the tattoo aftercare period.
Before we begin, remember that listening to your artist and heeding their advice is always recommended. Each artist has their own tattooing method and has learned tips and tricks along the way, to maintain an open dialogue and be diligent about taking care of your new masterpiece.
Can You Shower After Getting A Tattoo?
Some artists nowadays use adhesive wrap after completing a tattoo and if this applies to you, ask your artist how long they recommend keeping it on. Some tattooers will instruct you to leave it on for 24 hours, three days, or even longer; so, if they wrap you up with this type of a breathable bandage, heed their advice. You can shower with the adhesive wrap in place, just be mindful of its location and monitor the time you spend under the nozzle so that the adhesion doesn’t loosen.
If your skin is not adorned with adhesive wrap, we recommend hopping in the shower as soon as you get home to wash the tattoo and start preparing for the healing process.

So, can you shower after getting a tattoo?
Yes, you can shower after getting a tattoo but it’s important to follow the advice of your tattoo artist and keep these seven tips in mind before showering.
Doing so will ensure your tattoo heals properly and looks great for years to come. Repeat these showering tips for a few days while your tattoo begins the healing process and remember that between showers. As time marches forward, you will notice that the showering process will slowly return to normal.
Always remain mindful of your tattoo and treat it with special care during the aftercare stages. Think Clean!
]]>Now that you are the proud owner of a new tattoo, it’s important you give your body a chance to recover so your tattoo heals properly. We’ve discussed the importance of tattoo aftercare before but today we’re taking a closer look at how to sleep with a new tattoo.
Sleeping with a tattoo can be tricky, so we gathered some tips and tricks to help you settle down for a good snooze.
Let’s get started!
If you want to give your body what it needs to heal properly, you need to understand how to sleep with a new tattoo. Sleep has been shown to affect both the immune system and the body’s ability to heal wounds effectively.
Related: How Long Does A Tattoo Take to Heal?
A new tattoo is essentially a wound that needs time and attention in order to heal properly. Understanding how to clean a new tattoo will ensure the surface of your tattoo is clean and healthy as it heals, but understanding the importance of sleep will ensure your body is able to heal efficiently below the surface. Your body naturally restores itself during sleep by removing wastes, bacteria, and other pathogens. If you don’t give your body the sleep it needs while healing a wound, it may lower your immune system and prolong the healing process.
If you have trouble sleeping through the night, check out this guide on sleeping through the night.
Giving your body the time it needs to restore itself when sleeping with a new tattoo is important, but there are other things to consider as well, including how to lie in bed, how often to change your sheets, and sleeping with a tattoo while traveling.
Here’s how to sleep with a new tattoo:
Even if you aren’t usually the type who can pack in a solid eight hours, sleep is never more important than when your body is trying to heal, so make sleep a priority during that initial week.
If your artist sent you home with adhesive wrap, you can leave that on the tattoo overnight and it should protect both the ink of your new tattoo and your bed sheets. Relieving extra worry about getting residue or ointment on your sheets makes for a better night’s sleep…and that is the ultimate goal!
If your artist wrapped up the tattoo but instructed you to shower or wash it when you got home, then follow their cleaning instructions and rewrap the area for the night. You can take that temporary wrap off in the morning and proceed with your day, but it is a good habit to clean and rewrap the new tattoo for the first three nights.
Related: Can You Shower After Getting A Tattoo?
If you don’t rewrap the tattoo for those first few nights, you may want to pull out a spare bed sheet that you are okay with getting ink on. Not only does that help to keep the tattoo clean, but it will protect from germs, sweat, and bacteria that may have accumulated on a sheet that is not freshly laundered.
Continue to rotate your sheets as often as possible to protect from pet hair, dust, and residue. If you choose to wrap the tattoo each night, this issue is even easier to remedy.
If at all possible, try not to lie on the freshly tattooed area. You don’t want to put unwanted pressure on your new piece so try to lie in a comfortable sleeping position that doesn’t apply pressure.
If you find that your tattoo has pressed up against the sheet during the night and it is stuck to the material in any way, don’t pull it off without wetting the fabric. Just carry the sheet with you to the faucet and lightly stream warm water over the area until it loosens. If you yank it off without carefully loosening the area, it may unnecessarily tug ink from the tattoo and cause your healing process to be less than ideal.
If you have pets, it’s best to keep them at bay during those initial nights after receiving your new tattoo. Not only are hair and germs your new tattoo’s worst enemy, but animals love to sniff and lick as well. If you can’t bear to sleep without your furry friends, be sure to keep your tattoo safe from their wandering noses, paws, and tongues.
If you are traveling or getting a tattoo at a convention where you will be staying in a hotel overnight, it’s smart to pack your own set of sheets or plan on using wrap at night to protect your tattoo. As clean as a bed might look, you never know what is lurking on the mattress or sheets beneath you and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Keeping a pack of sterilized tattoo wipes nearby will ensure you’re always ready to clean your tattoo when needed. The WIPEOUTZ™ single-use cleansing tattoo towels are soaked in our antibacterial WASH formula and individually packaged for on-the-go tattoo care. These are particularly helpful when traveling, but we recommend keeping a pack at home as well just in case.
While the initial week of sleeping might be a little bit trickier than normal, remaining mindful of these important tips will not only help you to sneak in some necessary ZZZZZs but will also give your tattoo the best chance of healing beautifully and looking awesome for years to come.

]]>Today, we’re taking a closer look at what you need to know about new tattoos and sunlight protection so you can enjoy summer fun with your tattoos in the sun.
If you’ve ever had a sunburn, you know first-hand how dangerous (and painful) it can be to spend too much time in the sun. A sunburn is caused by your skin’s reaction to ultraviolet (UV) light exposure. A sunburn is a form of skin damage that may trigger blisters and peeling.

These problems can have a negative impact on your tattoo and the healing process, so it’s important you understand the importance of protecting your new tattoos from harmful sunlight.
Too much sun exposure will result in sunburn, peeling, and ultimately increase the time it takes your new tattoo to heal.
This is a common concern during the hot summer months, so we thought it might be helpful to gather a few tips for safe summer fun in the sun so you can rest assured you’re providing the protection and tattoo aftercare your tattoo needs in order to heal properly. Ignoring your tattoo artists advice or skipping the necessary aftercare steps will increase the risk of developing complications and may increase how long it takes your tattoo to heal.
Here’s what you need to know about tattoos in the sun …
If you have a new tattoo, your tattoo artist probably explained how to clean a tattoo and stressed the importance of tattoo aftercare so your ink can heal properly. However, you may or may not be sure about new tattoos and sunlight …
These are just a few questions we hear around this time of year, so we wanted to provide a few tips so you can make more informed decisions regarding your tattoos in the sun during the fun summer months. Don’t worry, you don’t have to live a vampiric existence in order to protect your ink – just be careful and mindful!
When it comes to tattoos in the sun and enjoying a little summer fun, it’s all about awareness.
For new tattoos and sunlight protection, we recommend staying out of the sun altogether. While you may assume you can just apply sunscreen for protection, this is not a good idea. Sunscreens contain harsh ingredients (you know, designed to block UV rays) and may increase the healing time and cause irritating side-effects.
If you have a new tattoo, it’s important you exercise diligent tattoo aftercare to ensure your ink heals properly and looks great for years to come.
As we have noted in previous posts, each artist has their own tattooing method and has learned tips and tricks along the way, so take their suggestions to heart.
If your ink is still fresh, be aware that your skin is incredibly sensitive, and the sun can be its number one enemy. If possible, cover up with clothing when you are outside or avoid direct sunlight altogether. This may not always be possible depending on your plans, but it’s important you provide your new tattoo the protection it needs to heal without the distress caused by harmful UV rays.
As mentioned, we don’t recommend applying sunscreen to a new tattoo – it’s an open wound that needs time to heal! Once your tattoo heals, sunscreen should become your buddy for life! Whether you are at the beach, on a walk, or just working outdoors, be sure to keep sunblock near you at all times and reapply often. I personally use Inkeeze’s Ink Shield Sunscreen and it works great!
Tattoos on the arms, upper torso, and areas that receive direct sun exposure tend to fade the fastest over time. Keeping your sunscreen handy is a lifesaver, but if you forget from time to time, opt for the shade whenever possible and cover your ink with a towel or clothing if you need to. You may have a funny tan, but your ink will still be poppin’!
Depending on the color of the tattoo ink used in your tattoo, your work may fade differently as it ages. Black and grey tattoos tend to stand the test of time a bit better in the long run, but that doesn’t mean that if you have a colorful palette of work you can’t defy the odds. Again, diligence, awareness, and preparation are key.
As mentioned, combining new tattoos and sunlight is not a great idea. However, if you want to get your tan on without subjecting your new tattoo to damaging UV rays, we highly encourage you to avoid tanning beds. It may be faster than spending a couple hours in the sun outside, but with that convenience comes the risk of developing skin cancer from direct exposure to the intense UV light. Tanning beds are particularly brutal for new tattoos because of this.
Whether you’re thinking about getting your first tattoo or continuing your ink collection, we recommend you clear your schedule so you’re not faced with the difficult
If you are headed to a sunny spot or have a big vacation planned, wait to schedule your next tattoo until after you return. There’s nothing tougher than trying to enjoy the outdoors when you have fresh ink and are making your way through the healing and aftercare stages.
Tattoo care lasts forever, so stock up on salves, moisturizers, and skin care to keep your inked skin in top condition! Some of my top picks include Redemption Tattoo Care products, Platinum Rose, and Hustle Butter.
Keeping your tattoo clean during a trip to the beach, the desert, or even your local park isn’t easy.
We created the WIPE OUTZ™ Singles as a way to make it easier than ever to keep your tattoo clean while on-the-go. Our individually packaged WIPE OUTZ™ tattoo wipes are soaked in our antibacterial/antimicrobial WASH formula to ensure you can clean your tattoo no matter the occasion or location.
I like to take a single Wipe Outz™ and give my own tattoos a once over … it’s always surprising how much cleaner my ink looks and how much the tattoo wipe absorbs.
They keep your tattoos looking fresh all year long!
We can’t stress the importance of being mindful of your tattoos in the sun enough.
If you’re not careful, you may experience a sunburn, blisters, and peeling, which will irritate your tattoo and delay the healing process. Remember to use caution when you expose your tattoos to the sun. Whether you are a long-time tattoo collector or are just starting out with your first tattoo, make your investment in body art count and stay mindful and prepared.
Your ink (and your skin) will thank you!
